Since 1982, FANHS has collected, documented, preserved, shared and disseminated Filipino American History… and your family is part of that history.

FANHS is recognized as the primary informational resource on Filipino Americans and lends expertise and support across the United States for colleges, universities, museums, authors, playwrights, filmmakers, teachers, students, and scholars.

FANHS Highlights:

The National Office holds hundreds of Oral Histories and Journal Writings and Photograph Collections of 4,000+ images- many more than 80 years old

  • Serves as a national clearinghouse on Filipino American history
  • National Museum in Stockton, CA
  • Created Filipino American History Month in 1990, and in 2015 the White House officially recognized October as Filipino American History Month nationally
  • Collections of 400 oral histories and 4,000 historical images
    35 Chapters throughout the United States gathering their local histories
  • 16 bi-annual national conferences (2018 conference in Chicago)
  • Helped publicize Marina Espina’s research on the 18th Century “Manila Men” fishing villages in the bayous of Louisiana
  • In 1994 the Central Coast Chapter commemorated the 1587 landing site of “Indios Luzones” as part of an excursion party from a Spanish Galleon
  • Exhibits and books on local and national Filipino American History
  • Award-winning documentary – “Filipino Americans: Discovering Their Past for the Future”

  • Produced several historical photo exhibits – all available for loan
